The holiday season is a time to give back to the community. There are a few fun ways that people can go about doing this. These ways benefit not only those who are in need but also those who want to brighten the holiday season.

Many worthy charities are selling unique merchandise, with the proceeds going to specific groups of people. For example, No Kid Hungry is an organization that has teamed up with Williams Sonoma. The retailer released a No Kid Hungry collection that consists of 10 spatulas, each with a matching dishcloth, that various celebrities designed themselves. Anytime a consumer makes a purchase from this collection, 30% is earmarked for the organization, which ensures that children in need always have healthy food to eat. Williams Sonoma also works with the Human Rights Campaign. Their line of Love is Love Tea Towel-set is a great way for consumers to support the LGBTQ community. Half of the purchase price of each towel set is donated to the Human Rights Campaign in an effort to eliminate discrimination.

West Elm is another retail that supports worthy causes. With the purchase of a St. Jude Honeycomb Chenille Throw Blanket, half of the profits are donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. These blankets are available in ruby red, golden oak, taupe, and midnight blue.

Anyone who has a soft spot for pets will want to purchase a mug shaped like a dog or a cat from West Elm. There are five different designs of mugs to choose from, and purchasing them in sets is encouraged. $1 from the purchase of every mug is donated to the ASPCA. West Elm has committed to dating at least $30,000 to the ASPCA from the sale of these mugs.

Piecework is another retailer that makes it easy to give back. Their Martini Lunch Puzzle has a solid red backdrop and pictures two cocktails, flashy painted fingernails, an old-fashioned telephone, layers of jewelry, and a sushi spread. Sales of this 1,000 piece puzzle benefit the National Women’s Law Center, with 10% of the price of each puzzle sold being donated.

These are just a few of the retailers that help give back to their local communities and global organizations alike.
